Team Challenge

Team Challenge FAQ

Q. Do we need to be in uniform?
A. No. You are not required to be in any Boy Scout or Girl Scout or any other type of uniform. If you want to be creative and have fun with something you want to wear as a team - go for it and have fun with it.

Q. Do we need a team flag of any sort?
A. No kind of flag or team name indication is required in your photos.

Q. Can we choose any type of team name we want?
A. Yes you can be as silly or serious as you like.
Q. On the Early Bonus Clues it says, "team participates in..." or "team takes a photo at..." does that mean the entire team must participate or take the photo for it to count?
A. The only time when you must have every member of your team in the photo or doing an activity is when it is specifically noted that way in the clue. Otherwise a valid photo or activity requires only a minimum of 2 team members. Of course it is a whole lot more fun with everyone and we encourage as much participation as possible. NOTE: the Early Bonus Clues are some of the hardest, so it is to your advantage to register and get on them ASAP.

Q. Is this a fundraising event?
A. It is not a specific fundraiser. It is an event for adults to get together and have as much, or more, fun than our kids did in the Patrol Challenge. It is a time to be a kid again, do silly fun things and be challenged. Any funds left over after all expenses are paid will be donated to the BSA.

Q. I want to participate but don't have all my team members lined up yet. What should I do?
A. You should turn in your registration now. As you assemble your team, send Paul Oliver an email with the names and your registration will be updated.

Q. Will the Early Bonus Clues be on the final set of clues we get the weekend the event starts?
A. Yes, all will be on the final set.

Q. I am a sourpuss, should I participate?
A. Yes, it will replace the sour with sweet, people will want to be around you, your wrinkles will disappear along with the love handles, you will become filthy rich and life will be good (slight poetic license here J)

Q. I am not a registered Boy Scout or Girl Scout Leader, am I able to participate?
A. YES, YES, YES. This event is open to any adult 21 years old or older, no matter your affiliation with Scouts. You can be from Mars or Venus or whatever planet you reside on.

Q. I am not sure what vehicle we will be using, what should I do regarding turning in the copy of the Insurance ID Card?
A. Best thing is to send in copies for all vehicles you may potentially use to be on the safe side. Just because you send in an ID Card for a vehicle does not mean you have to use it. NOTE: All copies of ID Cards will be destroyed after the event.

Q. Is anyone able to participate without a signed Hold Harmless Agreement?
A. No, everyone must have one signed and turned in to participate. You do not have to have them when you register, but we must have a hard copy before you start the event. Or very bad things will happen and you may end up in a small cubicle with a cellmate named Bubba or Bubbette.

Q. I may not be able to attend the awards night. How will I be able to get my patches?
A. We will make arrangements with you after the event.

Q. You mean to tell me I can start and finish when I want to?! AND I can get the clues emailed to me?!
A. Yes Virginia there is a Santa. See details under rules, "Team Challenge Schedule".

Q. Our team can't participate for the entire weekend. How will the competition be fair against teams that participate longer?
A. Scores will be based on your total hours of participation. Each team will divide its total points by the total hours you participate. Your total hours are from when you get your clues to when you turn in your stuff. We will have awards for High Gross and High Net.

Q. What if I can't come up with a team until the last minute?
A. Show up at any of the CHECK-OUT times with your registration and forms needed and you can pay and start then.

Q. How will we know what locations will count towards getting the playing cards?
A. Some locations will be noted as card locations on your final clues, and some card locations will be a mystery. There will be a total of 7 possible cards for your poker hand.

Q. Why Bonus Pools?
A. Because they make you think! They are especially weird or cool or insane things and you have to decide if it is worth doing it or going there for the points. They will be worth a lot of points and the total point value will be divided among all those teams who do it.

Q. I want to participate but I can only get my wife to join me, what can I do?
A. Call Dr. Phil to sharpen your people skills. If no time for that, then you can give us your name, area you live in and email address and we will have a place on the website for folks like you to get in touch with each other and get onto a team.

Q. How do you make it fair since some of us live so spread out?
A. We go to great lengths to make sure there are an equal number of things to do and places to go in every area. It does not matter where you live; it is an equal playing field for every team.

Q. You really won't bail us out of jail?
A. No and we will make sure your mug shot gets on the internet

Q. Why are you doing this event?
A. Because you saw what kind of fun the kids had in the Patrol Challenge, you badgered and whined us into doing one for the adults. And we know you adults will enjoy it just as much, if not more. The older we get the more we are in search of unique things to replace the same old types of entertainment like dinner and a movie. This is it! When is the last time you found that unique treasure you never knew existed just a few miles from your home? This is it! When is the last time you really rushed around and planned things like an excited kid? This is it! When is the last time you giggled and laughed your head off like your child? This is it! Besides Paul and Jack have no life and they get their jollies this way.
